Overview: Montecristo Petit No.2

The Montecristo Petit No. 2 is a Petit Pyramid, or Short Torpedo, vitola with measurements of 120 mm in length with a 52 ring gauge.

The Figurado shape makes this cigar particularly appealing aesthetically, rolled into a rich medium brown wrapper. The construction of the Petit No. 2 is second to none, guaranteed to offer a razor sharp draw, and offers a surprising amount of thick creamy smoke right from the start.

The Petit No. 2 offered a clean aroma of tobacco and a dash of cedar, once lit the flavours started around a mild-medium strength blend of roasted nuts, milky cocoa and a dash of wood. In the second half a delicate sweetness comes through with notes of coffee, and a touch of nutmeg and the flavours progress to a solid medium strength, the finish is long, lasting just under one hour.

We recommend aging this cigar for a minimum of 2 years and up to 5years, this would allow the cigar to develop some complexity and greatly improve the flavour profile.

I’m a longtime Montecristo 2 fan. Why? Easy draw, great flavor. I prefer Robustos, but the No. 2 was good for me. So when I saw the No. 2 Petit, I decided to buy a box. These are fantastic cigars! Same easy draws as No. 2’s, but a better wrapper. Easy draw, but I think these petits are wrapped more densely than the last 2’s I’ve bought. I prefer these Petits. More dense filler, flavor profile slightly different than 2’s. The smoke, at least for me, is equal to or longer than the last full-size 2’s I’ve bought. Strongly recommend this cigar. And if you like robustos, as I do, this cigar is a good match.
