Overview: Montecristo Edmundo
The Montecristo Edmundo is named for its vitola which measures in at 135mm with a 52 ring. The name is also a nod to Edmund Dantes, the hero of the Alexandro Dumas novel The Count of Montecristo, which was also the inspiration for the name of the brand.
This fine cigar was released in spring 2004, now a staple in the Montecristo range, they went on to win cigar of the year in 2014.
The Edmundo is beautifully constructed at the H. Upmann factory, which is in the neighborhood of Nuevo Vedado in Havana.They are tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade using an exclusive blend of tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba, and finished with a traditional triple cap.
Warm aromas of cedar and cocoa are offered pre light, once lit a full bodied smoke comes billowing out, serving medium-full strength flavours that we found to be a harmonious blend of almond, cocoa and a dash of baking spice.
The Edmundo would pair well with a crisp lager or a side of cognac after a steak dinner. Recommended for an intermediate to experienced smoker, puff slowly and you can expect to enjoy it for around 75 minutes
