Overview: Cohiba Siglo II

The Siglo II is a Mareva vitola, moderately sized at 129mm and 42 gauge. Filled with Cohibas luxurious signature tobacco blend, all of their vitolas are Totalmente a Mano, Tripa Larga – long filler, handmade, in the famous El Laguito factory.

The renowned Cohiba Siglo series were released in 1992 to commemorate the 500 year anniversary of Columbus’ arrival to the new world, becoming available internationally in 1994. Siglo Series are known officially as the Linea 1492 range.

The Siglo II begins slowly with a mild chocolate flavour that combines with notes of honey and delicate spice. The body and strength top out at a medium level, offering a consistent but not overly complex array of flavours and milder than its Siglo siblings. If you are unfamiliar to the world of Cohibas, this one is a great place to begin.

We paired this with a sweet cognac that offered an excellent match to the subtle flavours, expect to enjoy this fine cigar for around one hour.

    Cohiba Siglo II:
Cuban. (Stored in cabinet humidor 70deg/65RH)

    Food: None

    Drink: Caramel Latte

    Location: At the park.

Pre light aroma: Floral with hints of spice.

    Construction: One word: Flawless

Pre Light: I made a clean cut with my Xikar cigar cutter and took a pre light draw. It was a perfect draw.

    Light: Blazer torch lighter.

Taste: If you have never experienced a Cohiba then you haven’t really won’t understand what I am saying. These cigars are works of art. I have never had a genuine Cohiba that disappointed, and I have had many. The flavor profile doesn’t change much through the entire stick although it does build some strength. I do not have the words to really describe the experience so I will use the best adjectives I can to scratch the surface to describe such a fine smoke. Honey, floral aromas, floral taste, like drinking vanilla straight for the mold that God made vanilla from, transports you to a different place, slows time and makes you never want to leave. Rarely needs burn correcting, perfect draw, perfect burn.

Synopsis: Try this cigar if you have not. You will NOT be disappointed. The only regret is that it only lasts 45 min. However, that’s why they make Siglo IV’s and VI.

These are brilliant smokes. Had a cup of green Tea and good reading material. Very consistan burn well made and earthy smoke. Classic Cohiba Taste. A little shor on the finish but not bad. In my opionion better then the IV’s, but those may need some age because they are from Sep 07.

Although not a thick ring gauge, this cigar has great flavor. I picked one up in Florence and enjoyed it on the island of Sicily. This was one of my first Cohibas and the taste was very smooth and flavorful. I would consider this one of the best values in the Cohiba line, considering the high cost of the larger ring gauged cigars.

I cannot detect all the different flavors that some can. Earthy (haven’t eaten dirt since I was maybe 2), leathery (all my leather has Neatsfoot oil on it, blahh), floral, etc. All I know is I like them and love smoking them. Great burn and lasts a long time. Burn mine till it gets too hot to hold, which is about 1″. Flavor was as good at the end as it was at the light. Just my $.02 worth. ;o)

  6. Josh K.

I found this cigar to have a draw problem so I will have to try another to determine if it is frequent problem or not. However despite the draw problems I found it to have an even burn and a very spicy flavor. I did not enjoy the fact that the draw problem caused an unsuitable amount of smoke. As I said I will have to try another soon. Rating reflects the draw problem.

This would be the smoke for you. They are dang expensive but worth every dime for them. When young they are great but when you have a few years on them you will think you are in heaven. It has all that beautiful grassy, earthy creamy taste. I find these to be even better that the robusto with a decent amount of smoke.

  8. Bob B.

Can last over an hour if you smoke it right. I say right, if you are taking no more than two drags per minute. Any more than that and it has to burning hotter than it should. Be patient and take your time with this labor of love. It’s something you’ll be rewarded. I made this my birthday breakfast cigar. Just fabulous.

When I am a rich man…when a very wealthy, beautiful woman decides to take me for a husband and take me off on her yacht for months at a time…These are the cigars I want with me. Man, I need more money!

  10. Troy P.

This is the best petit corona period! Smoked an entire box in 8 days! Everysingle one in the box was excellent with the classic Cohiba flavors. This really reminds me of a smaller siglo VI and I really do mean that!!! The secretos and this are my favorite cohiba’s hands down !

I was expecting something special from this PC based upon some previous reviews. Do not take wrong – it is a very nice cigars with perfect construction, but maybe due to a light colored wrapper the smoke is fairly light in strength, creamy with some vanilla undertones, generous in volume and razor sharp burn; it is obvious that the SIGLO line is oriented more toward more delicate and aromatic taste than a regular cohiba line.

  12. Attilio G.

This outsmokes everything else on the planet. Why bother with other cigars? Life is too short for that. Truly wonderful taste and fits movers and shakers of the world’s image. Siglo II Rules
