Overview: Ramon Allones Gigantes
The Ramon Allones Gigantes is a Prominente or Double Corona format, measuring 194mm with a 49 ring gauge. They are offered in boxes of 25.
The Gigantes has a simple aroma of hay off the top, while the cold draw offers a crisp cedar note. Once lit a beautifully rich stewed fruit flavour comes right off the jump, as this smoke progresses it mixes with notes of new leather, cream and chocolate.
The body and strength is mild at first but increases to a medium by the second third, with additional flavours of florals, nuts and a touch of green tea.
There is a lovely balance to this cigar, complimentary flavours glide across the palate with cinnamon and chocolate and a bit of green tea coming in towards the finish. Take care to smoke this one slowly, to allow the flavours to unfold without it burning too hot.
This cigar will age handsomely, give it 2-3 years inside your humidor and you will be well rewarded. Unlike many robustos, this milder version would be excellent for novice smokers.

This prominente is a classic. It has a great draw and burn, and loads the palate with that amazing Ramon Allones flavor. Tons of roasted nuts, tobacco, coffee grounds, and a smooth cuban coffee finish. It is a dark, earthy cigar that is very balanced and complex.

This is one beautiful Churchill that you need much time to enjoy. This cigar is one smooth cigar even when young and wish to try one with some years on it. The aroma on this one is out of this world with lots of beautiful smoke. You will get pleanty of earth and leather form this bad boy. I must try.

This was a big cigar. Well constructed, with a smooth golden brown wrapper.
Pre-light draw was perfect, with taste of sweet tobacco.
Post-light offered flavors of honey and cinnamon spice. Incredibly smooth with hints of coffee and cocoa. Strength was medium, with a nice long finish.
The burn was okay. Never quite straight, but also not too far out of wack. The smoke increased in strength as it progressed, but continued to stay smooth with flavors of sweet tobacco and roasted nuts.
This was a fantastic smoke!

I am not a huge fan of Ramons, mainly because they taste a bit “oily” to my pallet. [I don’t know how else to explain it.] Also, the Ramons I’ve seen always have a light Connecticut wrapper, which I usually try to avoid.
However, this 2x Corona was quite tasty, and I did enjoy it more than my previous Ramons purchased from other vendors. In fact, one of my cigar buddies, with whom I shared one, thought it were the best Islander he’d ever smoked. Go figure. I’ve always believed everyone’s pallets are different, and this proved it again.
As for its authenticity, I am 70% certain they were authentic, but I am not a Ramon expert by any means.
