Overview: Por Larranaga Gran Robusto – Regional Edition Netherlands 2017

The Por Larranaga Gran Robusto is a Magnum 50 vitola, carrying a 50 ring gauge and measuring 160mm in length. This cigar marks the first time that Por Larranga has used this vitola, although it has been used previously within the Habanos portfolio.

This cigar is branded as an exclusive for the Netherlands, the name carried on the second band is Paises Bajos which translates from Spanish to The Netherlands, although it may be found across Belgium and Luxembourg as well. They are limited in quantity with only 100,000 boxes of 10 available.

The Gran Robusto boasts a complex aroma of leather, chocolate and cedar, the cold draw was equally enjoyable with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of citrus. The delicious notes pre light carry through into flavours once lit, with a creamy smoke bringing them together with additional notes of almond and a touch of floral.

The strength is quite mild, until the second third where it reaches a solid medium strength, a touch of pepper comes through and the orange tang intensifies.

The construction on these is remarkable, providing a razor sharp draw and an abundance of thick smoke. At a leisurely smoking pace, you can expect to enjoy this cigar for 90+ minutes.

There is certainly aging potential for this stick, try 1-2 years minimum to see what unfolds.
