Overview: Montecristo Churchills Anejados 2015

The Montecristo Churchill Anejados are named for the Churchill vitola, with measurements of 178mm and a 47 ring gauge. They were released by Habanos in 2015. 

These cigars are tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade using an exclusive blend of tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. They are put down to rest for two years once they have been rolled then boxed, which is why they also carry the Anejados name, which translates to Aged. The bands are applied once the resting has been completed.

The aromas off the Churchill Anejados was a gorgeous blend of caramel mixed with cedar, while the cold draw offered the same notes with more pungency and a dash of twang. Once lit this cigar unfolded into a complex blend of earth, leather, toasted bread and a sugary sweetness.  In the second half most of the sweetness disappears and the dominant flavours are an earthy blend of mushroom, coriander and white pepper. 

The smoke output was full, rich velvety smoke that offers flavour at medium strength, whereas the body almost hits the medium-full point. There is a lovely aftertaste when you finally lay down this cigar, which you can expect to call time on around the 2+ hour mark.
