Overview: Montecristo 80 Aniversario

This commemorative edition, comprising 30,000 units, is presented in an exclusive, uniquely designed box of 20 Habanos, each bearing bands with a gold finish especially for this occasion.

The Montecristo 80 Aniversario is a Double Edmundo vitola, with measurements of 165mm with a 55 ring. This limited edition was released in 2016, only 30,000 boxes of 20 are available worldwide. 

The 80 Aniversario is another mammoth cigar offered by Montecristo, and one of the largest they have ever produced to date. These cigars are tripa larga, totalmente a mano – long filler, totally handmade using an exclusive blend of tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo region of Cuba. 

The aromas that greeted us were a beautiful blend of florals, while the cold draw offered a sweet candy flavour mixed with cinnamon and a touch of salt and lemon. Once lit this cigar opened up to a complex bouquet of caramel, more cinnamon and some milky chocolate. The strength is medium while the body reaches the full mark. 

The smoke output was full and silky, while the draw was sharp and the burn was even all the way through, an impressive testament to the quality of these fine cigars and the master hands required to roll them. 

Smoking these fine cigars will also take some experience, they are best enjoyed slowly, so make sure you carve out the 2+ hours you will need to fully enjoy this smoking experience. An excellent post dinner smoke to be paired with a delicious port.
