Overview: H.Upmann Royal Robustos LCDH
H. Upmann Royal Robustos is produced exclusively for La Casa Del Habano (LCDH) stores around the globe, being released in 2011. The production for these is limited to only 5000 boxes of 10 making them an exclusive acquisition.
This cigar is an Edmundo Vitola, with a length of 135mm and a 52 ring gauge, offering a smoke time of around 90 minutes. The Royal Robusto is presented in a beautiful dark cinnamon colored wrapper that emitted warm aromas of cedar mixed with chocolate.
The draw on this cigar is exquisite, offering full bodied and ample smoke plumes. We were greeted with a light sweetness that mixed with the classic Upmann flavours of herbaceous tobacco and creamy coffee. The strength was a consistent medium, with additional notes of vanilla and caramel coming through to mingle with a twang of green tea and a dash of baking spices.
This was a fantastic smoke right out of the box, but these also have tremendous aging potential, if you have the patience, 5 years could do wonders for this smoke.

Received a box of 10 about 3 weeks ago and smoked the first one last night. This is the first LCDH release I’ve tried of any maker. The box was Sept. 2014 production. Construction was excellent with no correction required to the burn. The draw was perfectly firm without being tight and the volume of smoke was outstanding. The notes that dominated the flavor profile for me were coffee and chocolate and that was right from the start. There were hints of spice in and out through the whole stick which I smoked down to about 1 1/2 inches before some bitterness started setting in. All in all an excellent experience. I’ll probably wait until at least 2 years post production to light the next one. I’m expecting these to age into spectacular cigars.

Some of the cigars arrived a little bit cracked at the bottom nothing to worry about, other than that, fantastic construction the burn is perfect, the flavor hits hard right fom the beginning wonderful aroma, tightly packed but hits like a freight train no draw problems from beginning to end, will benefit from ageing, by no means replaces the Romeo Churchill or the Cohiba robusto or Monte Cristo number 2 but if you want to jump outside to a new flavor profile you will not be disappointed, verry smooth hints of spice sweetness coco wonderful aroma, only 10 to a box,
