H.Upmann Connoisseur No.1

Overview: H.Upmann Connoisseur No.1

The Connoisseur No. 1 is a Genios vitola, or Hermosos No. 4, that measures at 127mm with a 48 ring gauge, and finished with a triple cap.

This is only the second cigar to fall under H. Upmann’s Connoisseur Linea line, joining the Connoisseur A. To further distinguish this cigar from its siblings it displays a new band that carries the Connoisseur A name in addition to its classic red and gold design.

Medium bodied smoke came out on the first draw, with a slight aroma of wood and coffee beans. We detected some sweetness at the start with florals and vanilla initially, nutmeg, cream and some dashes of pepper were also notable as the cigar unfolded at the halfway mark. The flavours were complex and the body stayed consistent around the medium strength mark.

Overall a very interesting and unique flavour profile from this Cubano, you can expect to enjoy this smoke for just over an hour. Make sure not to puff through it too quickly and let the delicate yet complex flavours introduce themselves at their leisure.

I was surprised just how good this robusto was after smoking one after many years away from this brand. Good color, construction, excellent draw and nice taste and flavor that could be enjoyed (unlike many other more highly rated cigars) right to the nub. I’m not to the point of buying a full box, but I certainly would pick this robusto over serval others given the choice….

Just ordered another box and it has arrived already. THANKS LOU!! I love this cigar especially for outdoor summer smoking. I handed some out to my future brother in law and he is converted already. Easy to smoke, not too heavy.

This is one of the best cigars to come out of Cuba. It has a beautiful appearance, and a spongy feel. The wrapper is silky smooth. The draw is perfect and loads the palate with fresh coffee bean, cappucino, cafe au lait, and a heavy cream. It is absolutely delicious. Medium bodied with tons of richness

There is something about a Upmann that just leaves you almost speachless. Get a few years of age on these and the flavors will run wild. They are so smoth and burn nice and cool. It is kind of like a mini Upmann Churchill. This and the mag 50 have to be one of my top go to cigars. Buy these you will not regret it!

  6. Bob B.

One of five well know Hermoso, characterized by the loose draw. Sort of a sporty model if you ask me. You can smoke them as fast as you want but don’t over throttle for too long or it will go bitter. Classic flavors of the marca can be found, orange peel, earth, and leather. very good after a number of years.

A beautiful cigar in a great size. Rolled perfectly with no soft spots. This cigar was excellent from start to finish. A mix of wood and dirt with nice floral notes to round it out. Never got harsh which is a bit surprising for such a young cigar. The burn was perfectly straight for the entire smoke. I look forward to smoking another soon.

Box after box a real better than average cigar.
