Overview: Partagas Capitols

The Partagas Capitols are a Marevas Vitola, with measurements of 129mm with a 42 ring gauge. Habanos dubbed this size the most popular format in the history of Habanos, and the Marevas has been widely considered as the ‘standard size’ of cigars. 

The Capitols were announced in 2017 but did not become available until 2020, introduced as part of the Linea Retro Series, they are sold in five-count metal boxes that were inspired by the original pocket cigar holders that were enormously popular in the 1970s.

Aromas of cedar, cocoa, soil introduce this cigar, while the cold draw brings notes of cedar, cinnamon and savoury spice . Once lit the draw is razor sharp, the flavours start out mild but advance to a medium by the end of the first third. 

We found a deliciously balanced blend of cream, cedar, chocolate, a touch of orange citrus with a dash of white pepper. In the second third a distinct floral note came to the top, while a dash of salt also came through to add some complexity to the bouquet. 

Be mindful not to puff too hard on this stick or the flavours will be compromised. There is plenty of complexity to find inside this smoke, so take your time to allow it to unfold across your palate. Expect a smoking time of one hour.
