Review notes: two of the finest belicosos i've tried are the bolivar and the ryj. the juletta i found smoothe and a tangy finish its terriffic! its not the preetiest cigar around but than again im impartial to the rubusto shape, once in a while you just gotta shake things up so go for the belicosos

Review notes: It didn’t take long for the baby girl to tear through all of her presents this morning. She ran in the living room, saw all the gifts, and started saying, “Thank you, thank you thank you!” It was a wonderful time and a priceless gift to see her face light up. After we were done, I refreshed my coffee and went looking for a smoke. I saw the Romeo Y Julieta Belicoso from 2001 and decided it was the one. The wrapper was a dark brown and very coarse with a couple of prominent veins. I clipped the tip and found the draw tight, so clipped a little more and got an ample amount of air through with no noticeable flavor in the cold draw. With the foot torched, I took a couple of puffs and then a slow, long draw. Exhaling through the mouth and nose, I found the smoke to be very mild with no spice at all to be found. I got a flavor of very dry grass, and a tiny hint of nuts. There wasn’t much flavor at all, bland actually. I smoked it down approximately an inch and the smoke continued to be very mild and bland. Was it just a bad blend I wonder? The burn got a little off also, and the ash fell due to my accidentally dropping the smoke in the ashtray. At the half way point, the strength opened up a little but unfortunately there wasn’t much by way of flavor. The draw also started to tighten up again, so I made another clip and when taking a draw, squeezed the tip between my teeth which worked well. I smoked it down to a little over an inch and put it down. I was a bit disappointed in this smoke, as I was very much looking forward to a really nice RYJ profile, however it just wasn’t there. I have an RYJ EL 04 I believe, so may put fire to it later and hopefully get what I was looking for. I do enjoy an RYJ with some age.
