Value: 7 out of 10
Experience: 10 out of 10
Review notes: As these came with a sampler no box codes were available; however, all appared to be prperly aged and all showed very good construction with vain-free wrappers. For comparisson I included Por Larranaga PC with a box code EMA NOV 08. Following is my evaluation of individual brands; it is obvious that my preference leans toward darker wrappers with more body and character: 1. Bolivar PC - It showed excellent construction with double cap and medium dark wrapper. Smoke volume was fairly generous with taste of cedar, leather ad nuts, smooth, medium-full strength and even burn. Great ageing potential.Typical smoking time 50 min. Bottom line: OUTSTANDING - I plan to stock up on these in SLB of 50. Rating: 8.6 2. Por Larranaga - it showed good construction with the darkest wrapper. Smoke volume was fairly good with some sweet taste of caramel and unique spiciness. Medium body with even burn, firm silvery ash and beautifull blue smoke. Great ageing potential.Typical smoking time 45 min. Bottom line: EXCELLENT - I plan to stock up on these Rating: 8.5 3. H. Upmann PC -it showed solid firm construction with a medium dark wrapper. It provided some light smoke volume, probably due to tight roll, smooth taste of well aged tobacco. Medium strength, even slow burn, smooth taste. Typical smoking time 60 min. Bottom line: Nice pleasant cigar Rating: 8.0 4. Montechristo N. 4 - it showed excellent construction with double cap and medium light wrapper. Smoke volume was good with some blue smoke and smooth, light-medium strength.complex taste with typical Monti "twang. Typical smoking time 45 min. Bottom line: Nice pleasant cigar - it is obvious why it is the best selling cigar on the planet. Rating: 7.5 5. Cohiba Siglo II - it showed excellent construction with double cap and medium light wrapper. It provided generous smoke volume with smooth creamy taste and som vanilla undertones; light-medium strength, even burn and firm ash. Typical smoking time 45 min. Bottom line: Very nice pleasant cigar - but I expected some "wow" factor; not very favorable price to quality ratio. Rating: 7.0 6. Diplomatico No.4 - it showed some spongy construction with medium light wrapper. Smoke volume was quite generous, probably due to lose construction, which caused very uneven burn in some. Taste was smooth medium strenth with some spiciness. Typical smoking time 35-40 min. Bottom line: DISAPPOINTING Rating: 6.0
