Review notes: This is a '99 cab, please bear that in mind. I smoked one of these recently (haven't touched the cab for months). Here are the notes:
Not very pretty, looks old in a kinda battered way. Big yellow spot near the cap and the foot is damaged. Cap's OK and on the other hand it seems firm and somewhat silky to the touch + it took a great cut & light.
Great flavour. Starts out toasty with some fat almond to it and then rounds out with some of those woodsy HdM flavors. Never too much though, something I dislike in the HdM du Rois. As it opened up I got some nice cocoa flavors together with the almonds, which eventually rounded out into o more nutty (hazelnut perhaps?) flavor. Perhaps a bit of Colombian coffee too. It never got one dimensional or boring. Mellow fantasticness. I nubbed it and wanted another right away...
Ash is not very pretty (brownish/yellowish), but holds up nicely. Delicious creamy smoke, and lots of it. Draw is bang on, perfect in my world. Burned reasonably evenly, two minor touch ups, nothing serious.
Price is right on for these...Not bad at all I think |
