Review notes: i have 2 boxes of Magicos that i bought in Cuba while visiting in 2006. i only had one from each box when i bought them, and they were great when i tried them then. i kept them in my home-made Humidor, in my summer home from Oct 06, until last week (April 09). i am please to report that they are even better. when i first tried them in 06, they were a little on the harsh side, and the smoke was a bit heavy, but i still enjoyed them. today, they taste much better, and more enjoyable. im having trouble remembering the exact taste back in 2006, but i can say that after aging they took on more of a spice and coffee flavour. i do remember smoking them in 2006, and not wanting to keep the cigar near my face for too long, because the smoke was not pleasant to be near my face. but today, i smoke a whole one keeping it in my mouth the whole time (smoked it while gardening) and the smoke was not unpleasant to be in my face (who knows, maybe today i am more tolerant of the smoke, but i did enjoy the aromatic smell of this cigar today). i give it 10 in all categories, but only 9 in Value, because this is the most i have spent on a 4.5 inch Cigar, and i would not spend that much again, unless it is a Cohiba Magico (or any Cohiba Maduro, theyre all this good). i did sample 2 other Cohiba Maduros in Cuba (theyre all the same, only different sizes). i chose the Magicos because the longer ones had too strong of flavour towards the end, the shorter Magicos does not have enough length to take on all the extra flavour near the end. |
