Review notes: Got a few loose sticks in an auction and after smoking it, feel compelled to share. Let me say right up front, I'm not usually a guy who will post a review, but I needed to share because it really is the first cigar to take me back 15 years to when I started smoking cigars.
It's winter, so into the hot tub (105 F) with the PSD5 LE 08 and a cup of Earl Grey. Construction looked to be good, but the darker wrapper on this had me skeptical. To me the wrapper on darker cigars always seem to have more veins and feel rougher. Nice mounted cap, overall length on the short side. Upon cutting and testing the pre-light draw, found it on the firm side, no real sense of taste before lit.
Once lit, I knew right away that I was smoking something memorable. It brought me back to the first time I tried an exclusive smoke (Padron Annivasario) some 14 years ago. I'm not big on describing cigars with flavors as I really have trouble distinguishing them, but was that cocoa I was tasting, along with a very pleasant leathery note. Smoked it for 50 minutes down to less than 1/2 inch.
I would very much like a box! |
